Business Unit Head - Printing - Uganda
Our client are one of the largest print groups in East Africa and are seeking a growth minded Business Unit Head to drive the business forward in turnover and more importantly increased profitability. They are continuing to develop new manufacturing processes for mono carton production alongside their existing markets in security seals, labels and shrink sleeves. As the Head of this unit you will have practical knowledge of the flexographic process including in line processes for labels, shrink sleeve and mono carton production. A demonstrable knowledge of digital print, commercial print and computer stationery manufacturing will also be part of the required skill sets.
The landscape of the business is changing rapidly and there are significant opportunities for substantial growth in sales and profitability. As the business unit leader you will be an innovative individual with strong team management skills, be a strategic thinker, who will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the various profit centres. You will also be responsible for overall performance, management and financial goals including cash flow forecasting and monthly cash collection.
You will report to the Managing Director of the overall group providing him with agreed monthly management reports to include analysis on performance, key customer sales and other agreed KPI’s.
There will be extensive contact with both internal and external customers and the successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will also be a skilled negotiator and have exceptional marketing and sales skills. You must be able to complete assignments with minimal supervision and influence the strategic direction of the company as the end result will be valued on the goals achieved against the objectives set and agreed with the board.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Business Unit Manager is a member of the group strategic leadership team.
Establishes and manages current customer relationships, striving to capitalise on organic revenue growth opportunities.
Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and drive.
Full responsibility for the units Profit & Loss (P&L) statement
Responsible for all RFQ’s and setting final prices in conjunction with departments and cost manager
Accountable for the operational and financial performance of the printing unit.
Manages the performance, development and rewards for direct reports, including sales team and production managers
Full responsibility for continuous improvement within the business unit.
Responsible for the execution of all/any established contract terms.
Manages and drives customer business reviews especially with key customer accounts
Education & Experience Requirements
Ideally a degree in Business Administration or other relevant degree
